Work has started on the massive restoration project to turn the former Stone House Hospital buildings at Dartford into unique new yet historic homes.
Specialist developers The PJ Livesey Group are creating 93 new properties from the historic buildings and looking for a new user for converting the former Flint built Chapel into other uses.
The first properties will be released for sale early in the New Year and include distinctive three bed mews homes with walled gardens and one with exposed oak beams. Later phases will include a small number of luxury apartments built into the main recreation Hall.
Much of the 15 acre site will remain open including the huge expanse of grass and mature trees in front of the distinctive main building.
The development got planning permission in June.
Based in the north west of England the PJ Livesey Group has an impeccable 30 year reputation for restoring listed and historic buildings and was responsible for the saving and transformation of nearby Ingress Abbey.
Sales and marketing director Georgina Livesey, whose father founded the family company, said: “It is great to finally be on site and work is progressing well.
“These are beautiful buildings are to a human scale in a lovely green and open setting and each and every one of the homes we create here will be unique, that is what is so special about what we do.
“Its the buildings themselves that dictate what can be done and we work with that.
“As many features as possible will be retained and exposed and we are looking forward to showing people the site early in the New Year.”
Prices at The Residence will range from £134,950 for a one bedroom apartment to £249,950 for a three bed mews house.
