Mindfulness for Wellbeing: An 8-Week Workshop Series at The Retreat, York

In the midst of busy lives and constant demands, mindfulness offers a simple yet powerful way to return to calm, clarity, and balance.

We’re delighted to welcome Mindfulness for Wellbeing, an 8-week experiential workshop series hosted at The Retreat, York – a gentle, supportive space to slow down, reconnect, and build practical tools for everyday life.

What is mindfulness?

Mindfulness is the practice of bringing gentle, non-judgmental awareness to the present moment – noticing thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations with openness and curiosity. It isn’t about “clearing your mind” or doing anything perfectly, but learning a new way to relate to your experience.

Why Practice mindfulness?

Regular mindfulness practice is associated with:
• Reduced stress and mental overwhelm
• Greater emotional balance and resilience
• Improved focus and clarity
• A deeper sense of connection to yourself and your surroundings
• Responding to life with more choice and less reactivity

Many people find it helps them feel more grounded, steady, and better able to navigate everyday pressures.

What will the sessions be like?

These sessions are practical, calming, and experiential. Each week will explore different approaches to mindfulness, including:
• Mindfulness of the breath
• Mindfulness of the senses
• Body awareness practices
• Gentle mindful walking in the beautiful grounds of The Retreat
