PENTHOUSE SHOW HOME NOW OPEN

A magnificent three bedroom penthouse is being fitted out at our St Gregory’s Place

A magnificent three bedroom penthouse is being fitted out as the new show apartment at our St Gregory’s Place development in Sudbury, Suffolk.

With only half a dozen apartments left for sale in this historic building we don’t expect it to be on show home for long.

This lovely penthouse apartment sits on the second floor of the former Victorian hospital building with a private roof terrace giving uninterrupted views over the town’s tranquil Water Meadows.

It’s the perfect spot for a weekend breakfast or to sit and relax after a long day at work.

The penthouse has three double bedrooms, the master with fitted wardrobes and a luxurious en-suite shower room. The main living/dining area is a glorious space, flooded with light from the bi-fold doors which overlook the balcony and additional Velux windows. There’s a well fitted high specification recessed kitchen and useful additional storage cupboards.

This stunning penthouse (which is the largest onsite) also comes with two allocated parking spaces and is on the market for £449,950, which includes a host of interior designer selected upgrades.

WYFOLD COURT, A LASTING LEGACY

Eighteen years ago we renovated and converted the magnificent Victorian Gothic mansion

Eighteen years ago we renovated and converted the magnificent Victorian Gothic mansion of Wyfold Court at Henley.

It was an extraordinary project converting this Grade II listed gem into 11 apartments, set in 11 acres of grounds and formal gardens.

The work not only preserved one of the country’s great historic houses it created stunning homes – the largest of which has just come onto the market.

It was featured in the local paper The Henley Standard and you can read about it if you click here

For the P J Livesey teams it is always hugely rewarding to hear how the properties we save and the homes we create are enjoyed and treasured by their owners and do indeed create a lasting legacy for the country.

Ditchingham Maltings & the Wall of Friendship Book

THE WALL OF FRIENDSHIP BOOK

We love heritage buildings – and love that other’s share our passion for their history and character

When we started work on the site of a former silk mill at Ditchingham Maltings on the Suffolk/Norfolk border five years ago we knew the site had played an important role in the area’s history.

As well as employing hundreds of local people working seven days a week for eight months a year as maltsters the buildings had also been used by American servicemen during World War II.

While happy with their posting making great friends with the welcoming local community they also started a ‘Friendship Wall’ inscribing their name and the US State they called home, onto one of the walls inside the maltings.

One of the conditions of redevelopment was to preserve these bricks so they were carefully removed by hand, cleaned and given to the Norfolk and Suffolk Aviation Museum at Flixton. We are delighted to hear that the story of The Maltings and the many servicemen who added their name to the wall has been collated into a book by museum curator Huby Fairhead who we had the pleasure of meeting on site.

He very kindly sent us a copy and we appreciate his thanks to our staff for the efforts they took to preserve the precious bricks without damage. They have since led to the discovery of many wonderful stories told in the book

Cedar House reborn

CEDAR HOUSE HAS BEEN REBORN

Our ambitious transformation of Cedar House at Woodbridge in Suffolk is now complete

The property is now a spacious five bedroom family home with handsome double bay frontage and contemporary bi-fold doors at the rear – and it looks stunning.

The building has been a landmark in Woodbridge for centuries and while originally built as a house it had suffered insensitive additions over the years and had latterly been used as office accommodation.

Our designs to give it new life were radical and involved demolishing the Victorian additions, turning the house back to front to make the most of the lovely plot and building a second match new bay window to give the house a ‘face.’

Teams of craftsmen from stone masons to carpenters to electricians and roofers worked on the project for months supervised by site managers Curtis Mighall and Alan Venables.

It is a proud moment for the whole company to see Cedar House complete and ready to take pride of place in Woodbridge for another couple of hundred years.

Please take a look at the breathtaking aerial footage of Cedar House today by clicking on the video on the left.

St Gregory’s Place – 1st Phase sold out

ST. GREGORY’S DEVELOPMENT

The first phase of properties, now sold out

The redevelopment of the former Walnnuttree Hospital buildings continues apace with work now concentrating on the Central Hall which will form the main entrance to the second phase of the project.

The conversion of the Victorian buildings is revealing not just unique features and interesting spaces but wonderful views over the Water Meadow from the second-floor penthouses.

The Water Meadows are an integral part of the town’s unique attraction and an open space for all to enjoy – even the local cattle. No wonder that seven of the 10 new build houses facing onto the Water Meadows have also been reserved.

Buyers appreciate Sudbury’s many charms and along with a bustling market square and independent shops and restaurants this is the birthplace of Gainsborough and the town has retained a strong cultural and arts scene with its own gallery and theatre.

It also offers an easy commute to the surrounding larger towns such as Ipswich and Chelmsford and the train will get you to London’s Liverpool Lime Street station in 1hr 20 mins. It also offers great value for money compared to many neighbouring locations.
