TERRY’S CLOCK TOWER APARTMENTS

First look at this iconic development

Work to convert the iconic clock tower at the former Terry’s Chocolate Factory in York is progressing well and the first homes in this landmark Grade II listed building will be launched for sale in spring 2022.

Interest in this very special development is high and with just 21 properties available we are encouraging people to register their interest to ensure access to special events and detailed information.

Group Sales Manager Gavin Pearce, said: “We can’t to wait to show the spaces that are being created here. Each of the apartments is different, some with terraces, others with private gardens while the upper floor duplexes will have magnificent views towards the city or across the racecourse.”

The clock tower is one of five Grade II listed buildings that make up the purpose-built Terry’s Factory estate next to the City’s racecourse. They include the main factory building, closed in 2005 and converted by us into 170 apartments in 2015. It is now one of York’s most sought after premier addresses with penthouses selling for more than £1million.

Prices for the homes at the Clock Tower will be released to people who have registered their interest later this month (December).

Gavin added: “Sales will be handled by the Savills New Homes Team in York and there is such interest that a number of hard hat tours for interested buyers are being organised for December. We can’t wait to let people see inside!”

Just eight properties will be released in the first phase.

CEDAR HOUSE SALES SUCCESS

Final five now released for sale at The Cedars, Didsbury

Interest in the final phase of our 825 Didsbury development has been phenomenal with only five apartments remaining for sale at The Cedars.

This Grade II listed building is the centre piece of the development, fronted by expansive lawns and mature trees and the properties here combine the best of period architecture and modern specification.

Group Sales Manager Gavin Pearce said: “PJ Livesey is known for its sensitive work converting much loved heritage buildings into high quality modern homes. A lot of people had been waiting for the launch of The Cedars and we now have only three apartments available in the original house with two more in the new build extension.

This is the final phase of housing at 825 Didsbury and the last chance to be part of this really lovely development.”

Situated opposite Didsbury Cricket Club on Wilmslow Road, 825 Didsbury is perfectly placed whether you want to wander to Didsbury Village for local shops and restaurants or link to the region’s motorway network to go further afield.

It has several parks on the doorstep and all the activities expected in this popular south Manchester neighbourhood.

Gavin said: “The larger apartments at The Cedars are unique to Didsbury and have been bought by people wanting to stay in the area and downsize without losing the grandeur of their current property.

“Others have been snapped up by couples currently renting at our St James’ Park development just down the road who wanted to invest in a PJ Livesey home.”

The remaining one bedroom apartments – which include two with garden terraces – start from £274,950.

TAPTON COURT SECURES PLANNING

Plans to bring the magnificent Tapton Court back into use have been approved

Our aim is to recapture the grandeur of the building’s heyday and create a unique development of luxurious homes in this wonderful location above the city.

Joint Managing Director Georgina Lynch said: “Tapton has the perfect combination of a distinctive heritage building on a large site with mature trees and planting in a great location.

“We are delighted our plans have been approved and will continue to work with heritage officials to create something very special here.”

Dating back to 1868 the Grade II listed house with its many original features will be converted into just 14 grand apartments while the original stable block and the gate house will each become a single, unique property.

Ranmoor House annexe, a later addition to the site will be converted into 18 properties and we also plan to build four new houses within the grounds.

Work is scheduled to start on site later this month

This will be a very special development in a lovely part of the city and if you would like to be kept updated with progress please register your interest by clicking the button below.

The Contactors Helping Build Storeton Hall

JULY, 2021

SMALL DEDICATED FIRMS HELP US BUILD

Unlike most developers who feature standard house types, we do things differently.

Every PJ Livesey development is unique and so every home is designed specifically for each new site, fitting in with the surroundings and neighbouring buildings and respecting the heritage.

A perfect example is Storeton Hall on the Wirral which features a Scheduled Ancient Monument dating back to 1372 and two historic red brick barns. A small number of new build homes are being built within the walled grounds and have been designed to reflect the setting next to the second oldest building on the peninsular.

Built from beautiful quarried stone these homes – both new and converted – are unique inside and out and that represents a huge challenge for our technicians, managers, suppliers and contractors.

PJ Livesey director Craig Lynch said: “We have massive respect for our teams and especially our sub-contractors many of whom have worked with us for a very long time, building up a relationship of trust and an understanding of our exacting standards.

“When the owner of a firm is actively on site, getting their hands dirty, walking the plot and planning logistics with our technicians and other trades to ensure a property is completed to the very highest standards, then we know we have the right specialist teams to work alongside our own

“I have seen that day in and day out at Storeton Hall. People going above and beyond to meet our expectations and it shows. These are lovely new build homes, wonderfully built and the site is looking amazing.

“When all the new build homes are complete in another six months or so all the attention will turn to Storeton Hall and it will be a privilege working alongside these teams on something so special.”

 Special mention to:

Dolphin Decoration – The Liverpool based company has been a trusted partner of PJ Livesey for more than 20 years, working on a huge range of landmark projects across the North West. Owner Gary Turner said: “I like working for them. The standards required are very high and all respect to Peter Livesey because he inspects every single property and knows every inch of a site. It has to be right. We are only a small team and enjoy the interesting projects they take on and the very active, personal approach.”

SSDL Dry Liners – The firms’ first PJ Livesey contract was working on the conversion of Lancaster Moor – a vast project where each property was unique. Contracts manager Darren SIlcock said: “Because of the nature of what PJL do we work very closely with their technicians and the project engineers because old buildings always throw up the unexpected. We liaise with other trades so the work runs smoothly and it is hugely satisfying – especially on the conversion schemes.”

Eltom Electrical – Founded three years ago by electricians Phill Lewis and Michael Raynor, Storeton Hall is the firms’ first PJ Livesey project. Phil said: “We are based on the Wirral and having noticed the up and coming development we were keen to get involved in the restoration of an important local landmark, and so were delighted to have been awarded the contract following an invitation to tender. We have worked on listed buildings before so understand the restrictions and limitations they can pose and love a challenge. We like that the same care is demanded on the new builds and they have a keen eye for detail – as do we.”

Ralph’s 25,000 Miles Around the World

JUNE, 2021

25,000 MILES AROUND THE WORLD

We did it! We went Around the World for Ralph and raised money for the Christie Charity

The amazing PJ Livesey Team’s Round the World challenge ended with an incredible 24-hour-cyclathon at company headquarters to clock up the final 1,000 of the 25,000-mile journey

And it was wonderful that director Ralph Brocklehurst got the team over the finish line by cycling the last mile to bring us back home safely.

It followed an epic effort by director Craig Lynch and construction operations manager Gareth Whittaker who spent 24 hours in the saddle cycling around the clock. They were supported throughout the day and night by colleagues and we ended with a well-deserved party.

Thanks to the enormous efforts of everyone at PJ Livesey, supported by donations from friends, family, contractors, and suppliers we have raised more than £11,000 for The Christie Hospital Charity.

We would like to thank everyone for every single mile walked, run, cycled or swum and for every penny donated. The amount has already far exceeded our initial target but The Christie fundraising has been affected badly by the lack of events over the last year and we intend to leave the Fundraising page open until the end of June.

Georgina Livesey said: “It has been the most incredible journey around the world – both inspiring and humbling. I am so proud of the team and the effort everyone has put in both to do the miles and raise this incredible amount to support the work of such a great hospital. The treatment and care it provides for so many people like our colleague Ralph is world-class. It was typical of his indomitable spirit and strength that he wanted to get us over the finish line and play his part in completing the challenge which he inspired.”

Anna McIntosh, major relationships development manager, at The Christie, was on hand to accept a cheque on behalf of the charity.
